Spring is Key Time for Alaska Seafood Planning

Seattle, WA –February 8, 2022 – OBI Seafoods today confirmed that it plans a full-scale and fully staffed exhibit at Seafood Expo North America in Boston March 13 – 15. This is the first opportunity for the company to present its expanded capabilities to the world since the merger of Ocean Beauty Seafoods’ Alaska operations with Icicle Seafoods’ Alaska salmon and Gulf of Alaska groundfish operations to form OBI Seafoods in May 2020.

In addition to introducing the company to new customers, interest from current customers and the spring timing of the show are driving the company’s decision to attend. “We have had a high level of interest from our global customers to see us in person at the show to discuss 2022 production,” said Mark Palmer, CEO of OBI Seafoods. “It’s a very efficient way to meet a number of customers in a short amount of time at a critical time for our business,” he added. “With forecasts for the Alaska salmon season out, the show is well timed for those customers looking to secure the volumes they need for the coming year. It also helps us with our operational planning for summer, which is already in full swing.”

As a seafood producer, OBI is well-versed at operating during a pandemic. Palmer feels the protocols the show has in place will offer a safe environment to conduct business. “We know what works and the precautions taken by the show should allow everyone to have a successful show and get back to business,” he said. “We are really looking forward to seeing our customers after such a long time.”
